In May of 2014, he watched on his computer as people rioted and died on the same street. The Fulbright Scholar looks at how the country’s fortunes changed so dramatically. Samford and China: Then and Now Twenty-five years ago, a Samford group left China in a hurry after the Tiananmen Square protests in Beijing. The episode is in stark contrast to today, when faculty and students routinely travel to China and Samford actively recruits Chinese students to study on campus.
