McREL’s Teacher Evaluation System http://www.mcrel.org/evalsystems/index.asp General Information • Available for all grade levels. Consists of five sets of formative rubrics that, together, provide a road map for professional growth. • Used in the State of North Carolina, the Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas Islands, the State of New York and Oklahoma, and districts in Wyoming, Colorado, Indiana, New Jersey, Arizona, and Michigan. Trainings and Costs • Implementation orientation takes 2 days, is conducted on-site, and costs $8,000 plus travel expenses. o Can be presented as a train-the-trainer model o Can be combined with the Principal Evaluation System in a 3-day training for $12,000 • Implementation follow-up involves 3 webinars throughout the year, ongoing technical support, and personal assistance from a consultant. • An online data management tool is available to integrate student achievement data and collect, manage, and report observation data. o Subscriptions range from $20-$23/teacher/year, based on total number of subscriptions purchased. • For information on actual costs and needs for a particular program, contact: Dr. Tony Davis, Senior Director, Educator Effectiveness tdavis@mcrel.org Alignment and Research • McREL publishes a comparison and crosswalk of the Evaluation System’s alignment with InTASC standards (included in this packet). • The Teacher Evaluation System was developed and piloted in collaboration with a taskforce of North Carolina educators. • The System developers calculated content, criterion, and predictive validity and unaffiliated researchers were asked to review the data and methodology to approve the methods.
