Find your desired pressure (PSI) in the yellow shaded area 2. Move down the column with your desired PSI to locate the maximum flow for your machine (GPM) in the blue shaded area 3. When you have located the maximum flow for your machine under the desired pressure, move to the left column. The cell that is on the same row as your max flow will be the nozzle size you need. 4. If this chart does not have the information you seek, use the formula; Nozzle Size = GPM (√4000/PSI) Spray pattern has no effect on PSI output. A 40º #5 nozzle and a 25º #5 nozzle used with a 3 GPM machine will both output approximately 1,500 PSI. Nozzles are described with four numbers. The first two numbers are the spray pattern, and the second two numbers are the nozzle size. So a 4005 nozzle has a 40º spray pattern and a #5 orifice.
