Secondary Special <strong>Education</strong> Issues<br />
It is important that secondary programs for students<br />
with disabilities teach independent management of<br />
everyday expectations through specialized strategies<br />
<strong>and</strong> targeted direct instruction. CREC can provide<br />
professional development, technical assistance<br />
<strong>and</strong> instructional coaching to maximize resources,<br />
redefine roles of staff <strong>and</strong> dovetail IEP requirements<br />
with st<strong>and</strong>ards based practices.<br />

Youth @ Work - Talking Safety<br />
This curriculum on workplace safety <strong>and</strong> health was<br />
developed for high school students by the National<br />
Institute for Occupational Safety <strong>and</strong> Health (OSHA)<br />
<strong>and</strong> its partners. The curriculum is customized for<br />
Connecticut schools <strong>and</strong> uses games <strong>and</strong> other<br />
interactive activities to offer teens the knowledge <strong>and</strong><br />
skills they need to stay safe at work.<br />

Connecticut Accountability<br />
for Learning Initiative (CALI)<br />
CREC has trained facilitators in all of the key areas<br />
identified by CALI. CALI was implemented by the<br />
Connecticut State Department of <strong>Education</strong> to<br />
accelerate the learning of all students <strong>and</strong> close the<br />
achievement gap. We provide district <strong>and</strong> school level<br />
training as well as technical assistance in Data-Driven<br />
Decision Making, Data Teams, Assessments, School<br />
Climate <strong>and</strong> SRBI.<br />

Scientific Research-Based<br />
Interventions (SRBI)<br />
SRBI: Overview <strong>and</strong> Implementation Support<br />
CREC has state certified SRBI trainers, available<br />
to conduct in-district <strong>and</strong> regional professional<br />
development in basic <strong>and</strong> advanced SRBI practices.<br />
From introduction of basic SRBI concepts to planning<br />
strategies for Tier I, II or III academic <strong>and</strong> social<br />
support, let CREC assist you with an SRBI overview<br />
<strong>and</strong> development of an implementation plan.<br />

SRBI Framework: Developing, Maintaining <strong>and</strong><br />
Extending Comprehensive Practices<br />
CREC can help you develop <strong>and</strong> enhance your<br />
SRBI framework through an SRBI school or district<br />
assessment, technical assistance <strong>and</strong> professional<br />
development on SRBI topics. We can teach your<br />
staff the ways in which the SRBI framework <strong>and</strong> the<br />
new LD guidelines work collectively. Our education<br />
specialists help your district assess, evaluate, create<br />
<strong>and</strong> monitor your tiered behavioral interventions to<br />
dovetail with your current SRBI academic practices.<br />
