WWII veteran and retired pastor, Cecil H<strong>in</strong>dman,<br />

visits Wash<strong>in</strong>gton, D.C. with Ozarks Honor Flight<br />

Earlier <strong>this</strong> year, on his 90th birthday, Cecil<br />

H<strong>in</strong>dman participated <strong>in</strong> Ozarks Honor Flight,<br />

travel<strong>in</strong>g to Wash<strong>in</strong>gton D.C. to view the World<br />

War II, L<strong>in</strong>coln, and Vietnam Memorials along<br />

with Arl<strong>in</strong>gton Cemetery. His brother Leon<br />

traveled with him to assist with his wheelchair.<br />

Cecil H<strong>in</strong>dman enlisted <strong>in</strong>to the Army<br />

Used by America’s Lead<strong>in</strong>g Churches!<br />

He traveled across North Africa<br />

serv<strong>in</strong>g most of his time <strong>in</strong> Naples,<br />

Italy. After the war <strong>in</strong> Europe he<br />

served <strong>in</strong> Japan.<br />

H<strong>in</strong>dman graduated from<br />

<strong>Baptist</strong> <strong>Bible</strong> College, Spr<strong>in</strong>gfield,<br />

MO, <strong>in</strong> 1960 and pastored<br />

churches <strong>in</strong> Wyom<strong>in</strong>g, Arizona,<br />

New Mexico, and Missouri along with his wife<br />

and four children. He now faithfully attends<br />

and serves <strong>Bible</strong> <strong>Baptist</strong> Church, Republic, MO,<br />

where Branson Howard is pastor. Several of<br />

<strong>Bible</strong> <strong>Baptist</strong> Church family welcomed Cecil’s<br />

arrival home at the airport.<br />

Ozarks Honor Flight took its last flight<br />

June 6 of <strong>this</strong> year. Their mission was to transport<br />

military veterans of World War II to Wash<strong>in</strong>gton<br />

D.C. to view their memorial and other<br />

commemorative sites at no cost to the veteran.<br />

H.W. C<strong>are</strong>y<br />

Harold W<strong>in</strong>fred “H.W.” C<strong>are</strong>y, Sr., 87, passed<br />

from <strong>this</strong> life July 16, 2012. Mr. C<strong>are</strong>y was a<br />

veteran of the U.S. Army serv<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> combat for<br />

36 months <strong>in</strong> Europe dur<strong>in</strong>g WWII. Discharged<br />

<strong>in</strong> 1946, he graduated from <strong>Baptist</strong> <strong>Bible</strong> College<br />

<strong>in</strong> Spr<strong>in</strong>gfield, MO, <strong>in</strong> 1955 and went to<br />

Raleigh to organize <strong>Bible</strong> Church, later known<br />

as Poole Road <strong>Baptist</strong> Church, and presently<br />

known as Grace <strong>Baptist</strong> Church. In 1961, Neuse<br />

<strong>Baptist</strong> Church, just outside Raleigh, called him<br />

as pastor. Follow<strong>in</strong>g his retirement as pastor of<br />

Neuse <strong>Baptist</strong> Church, Pastor C<strong>are</strong>y organized<br />

and pastored Lake Country <strong>Baptist</strong> Church <strong>in</strong><br />

Clarksville, VA, for 14 years.<br />

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mildred<br />

C<strong>are</strong>y, two children, and three grandchildren.<br />

Memorial services were held July 19, 2012,<br />

at Neuse <strong>Baptist</strong> Church.<br />

Albuquerque, NM<br />

Henry Powell<br />

Long-time BBFI pastor Henry L. Powell went to<br />

be with the Lord August 3, 2012. Powell was a<br />

m<strong>in</strong>ister <strong>in</strong> the Lord’s service 46 years, serv<strong>in</strong>g<br />

Cielo Vista Park <strong>Baptist</strong> Church <strong>in</strong> El Paso, TX,<br />

Temple <strong>Baptist</strong> Church <strong>in</strong> Las Cruces, NM, and<br />

Berean <strong>Baptist</strong> Church <strong>in</strong> Albuquerque. Most<br />

recently, Henry served as a missionary with<br />

Outreach to Asian Nationals (OTAN).<br />

He is survived by his wife of 49 years,<br />

Sandra, three children, and six grandchildren.<br />

Memorial services were held August 9, 2012, at<br />

Temple <strong>Baptist</strong> Church <strong>in</strong> Albuquerque with<br />

Don <strong>We</strong>akland and Fred Gurule officiat<strong>in</strong>g.<br />
