Security
External doors on all residential buildings are accessible by swipe card
only, you will need to let friends and family into your residential area. We
also have a swipe card operated gate at the entrance to the Hall.
You are expected to lock your room door and room windows when you are
away from your room for your own security and that of the Hall. For those
with cars, you are advised to not leave valuables in your vehicle. We also
recommend that you install a security system in your vehicle to deter
thieves.
Access to the Massey Turitea campus is well lit. We encourage residents
to return with a friend when coming back to Fergusson Hall at night. We
will organise a van pick up at Massey after late night labs where possible.
If you have concerns for safety while on the Massey campus, please call
Massey security on 350-5030, a friend at Fergusson Hall, or a residential
staff member at Fergusson Hall.
Smoking
Smoking is not permitted in or within 10 metres of any residential buildings.
The Hall’s designated smoking area is our gazebo behind the garage and
the music / activity room. Residents found smoking elsewhere will be
issued with a fine.
