Reuben Taylor named Grand Marshal for
2010 Cherokee Indian Fair Parade
This week, the Cherokee Indian
air committee named Reuben Taylor, an
BCI tribal member, as the Grand Marhal
of the parade. Taylor, a veteran of
he United States Army and World War II
as been a member of the American Leion,
Stephen F. Youngdeer Post in
herokee for many years.
He joined the Army in 1942 as
part of the 82nd Airborne Division and
fought in the European Theatre during
World War II participating in (among
many others) the Battle of the Bulge.
Taylor received numerous military honors
including: the Bronze Star, the Purple
Heart, the Army Good Conduct Medal,
The American Defense Service Medal,
the American Campaign Medal – WWII,
the Europe-Africa- Middle East Medal –
WWII, the Victory Medal – WWII, the
WWII Occupation Medal – Army, the
National Defense Service Medal and the
rench Croix de Guerre – WWII.
Fair Committee officials comented,
“Reuben Taylor’s devotion to
uty and willing to self-sacrifice reflect
he highest credit upon himself and upold
the finest traditions of military servce.
The Cherokee Indian Fair committee
consider it an honor to name Reuben
Taylor Grand Marshall of the 98th annual
Cherokee Indian Fair Parade.”
