As usual there will be a bonfire. Members will be allowed to
play with colours. However, you will only be allowed to play in
the marked off area and you should be considerate to other
patrons who may not wish to be covered in colour. Please
remember to wear appropriate clothing. We advise you not
to come in your best clothes. If you bring your own colours please
ensure that they are washable. There will be powder colours for

‘Holi’, the Festival of Colours marks the coming of Spring and is a
celebration of new life and the seasons. Holi is the most vibrant
Indian festival, when distinctions of caste, class, age or gender
are set to one side and everyone has fun by smearing each
other with paint and throwing powder colours at each other, all
done in a spirit of celebration. There are many legends given as
the reason for celebrating ‘Holi’.

Children’s Party 2009

The Children’s Party was held on Saturday 12th December 2009 at Bramcote Hills Community & Sports
College. All the children contributed towards the party costs. We would like to thank all the parents,
teachers and volunteers who helped to put on the event. Also thanks to all those who brought in food
and other items. A special thanks to Jagdish Gohil for covering the shortfall for the party costs.

Youth Club and Radford Unity Centre -
Relocation News
Many of you will be aware that we have been
running our Youth Club from Radford Unity
Complex, Radford Boulevard, Nottingham for
a number of years. However, Nottingham City
Council have decided to close the building where
we are based and are pressing ahead with plans
to close the complex on 31 st March 2010. All the
community groups based at the complex have
been told to look for alternative centres from which
to operate. We are all of course disappointed
that we will not be able to use the centre from
1 st April 2010. We are looking at alternate venues
but these are limited. If you or a member of
your family attend the Youth Club, you will be
informed of what our plans are for re-locating.
In the meantime, please contact Chandri Vora

further information.

The Annual General Meeting and Elections of the
Samaj will be held on Sunday 27 th June 2010.
Details of time and venue will be announced nearer
the time, please check our website for updates.
The Samaj is keen to introduce new blood in the
committee and encourages all those able to help.
