ECFE Classes Early Childhood Family Education The ECFE program provides parent-child experiences for children from birth to five years of age. Families are offered hands-on experiences with their children, and participate in parent education discussions. Discount for Multiple Children in Same Class If you are registering members of the same family for the same parent/child class, the fee structure is as follows: Full sliding fee for the 1st child, 50% of the fee for the 2nd child and 25% for each additional child. This is only for the same parent/ child class – not for 2 different classes. Fee reduction does not apply to preschool classes. Sign Up for Classes throughout the Year After the initial registration, registrations are welcome at any time. Fees will be adjusted based on the date your child starts class. Call 651-653-3100 for details. Sibling Care Do you need care for your younger or older child while attending class? Please register for sibling care available during the time you are participating in one of our Early Childhood Family Education classes. Welcome Baby! New Baby Home Visits - We are excited to be able to offer a home visit for new parents from one of our Early Childhood Parent Education teachers. Please call 651-653-3100 for more information. Infants Participate in play and learning activities together with your infant. Enjoy this time to celebrate and nurture the relationship with your new baby. Connect with other new parents who want to introduce their infants to being with other children and playing in new environments. Activities are designed to stimulate the developing infant brain. Parent education and discussion time will be held in the same room with your infant and consist of journaling questions and discussion. Birth to 9 Months 4001.001 M 9:30-11 a.m. NP Young Toddlers Learn about balancing parent/ child needs and your toddler’s developing skills. You and your child will participate in play and learning activities, songs and stories. Join other parents looking to find ways for their toddler to become more aware of, and comfortable with, others and engage in beginning social interactions. Activities are designed to meet the needs of toddlers who are becoming more mobile and wanting to explore their environment under the caring guidance of parents and staff. 9-18 Months 4001.003 T 9:30-11 a.m. NP Daytime classes-30 sessions / Evening classes-28 sessions. Toddlers Ready, set, separate! Toddlers are changing quickly and learning new things every day. With all of the change and growth taking place, toddlers may or may not feel comfortable leaving their parents and loved ones. Separation can be a difficult time for both parents and children. Share with other parents and help ease the transition process knowing that this is a normal and important stage of development. Parent/child activities are designed to encourage and nurture toddlers’ growing independence, but acknowledge and support their dependence on you for help and guidance. Parents and children will meet in different classrooms during parent education time. Additional support is available as needed for children having a difficult time separating. Older Toddlers/ Young Preschoolers Share in your child’s continued journey toward independence and help make it a fun, positive and rewarding adventure. Share your experiences and successes with other parents and learn strategies from each other. Parent/child activities are designed to facilitate children’s development in the areas of social/ emotional development, language and communication, motor development and learning about the world around them. Parents and children will meet in different classrooms during parent education discussion time. Activities will include: music, games, art, and lessons that will support and extend the language and concepts learned from weekly stories. 4111.202 (Ages: 1-5) Wednesdays 12:30-2 p.m. NP Family Play Group 4001.105 (Ages 0-5) Tuesdays 6:15-7:45 p.m. NP “Nurture Shock” Join us 1st semester for a 1’s and 2’s ECFE class with a twist. This class will focus parent discussion around the book “Nuture Shock” written by Po Bronson and Ashley Merryman. “NurtureShock is a revolutionary new perspective on childhood that up-ends a library’s worth of conventional wisdom. Nothing like a parenting manual, NurtureShock gets to the core of how we grow, learn and live.” 4001.005 (Ages: 1-3) Sept-Jan Tuesdays 6:15-7:45 p.m. HU “1, 2, 3 Magic” Join us 2nd semester for a 1’s and 2’s ECFE class with a twist. This class will focus parent discussion around the book “1, 2, 3 Magic” and finding common ground in parenting. “1, 2, 3 Magic is the leading resource for parenting solutions that are easy-to-learn and proven to work.
