MUSIC TO <strong>DANCE</strong> BY
There are many songs created <strong>and</strong> refashioned
to fit <strong>Ballroom</strong> tempo. Even
popular musicians sometimes have songs
that are in appropriate rhythm & speed.
While the East Coast Swing tempo is
intertwined in our contemporary music
genre, Waltz is less prevalent. Below are
a few suggestions for the Waltz & the
East Coast Swing classes:
WALTZ: “Could I Have This Dance?”
Anne Murray, “Tennessee Waltz,”
“Skater’s Waltz.”
EAST COAST SWING: “It’s In His Kiss”
– Cher, “Stray Cat Strut” – Stray Cats;
“Two For The Blues” – Natalie Cole;

GUIDELINES FOR <strong>DANCE</strong> ETIQUETTE
The Academy offers dance
etiquette guidelines & strongly
encourages all students to follow them
for the maximum comfort & enjoyment of
all dancers.
The Academy wishes to provide
a fun <strong>and</strong> comfortable environment for
everyone. Sometimes this can be tricky
in <strong>Ballroom</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Latin</strong> dancing as
partnership dancing is a ‘contact sport.’
We hope that no one takes any choice
made by another personally because it is
simply each person’s unique comfort level
<strong>and</strong> acceptable boundaries.
No one should be made to feel
uncomfortable, so if for any reason,
there is a concern, the Academy
Officers <strong>and</strong> Instructors are here to
help. It is the Academy’s practice to
maintain confidentiality. The Academy
will try to help so everyone is free to
learn, dance <strong>and</strong> enjoy!
