– CMS contractee for acceptance of “pay
for performance” measures
– Organizes specialist “Steering Committees”
that conduct scientific review and make
recommendations.
• Measures passing the Steering Committee are
sent up to the Consensus Standards Approval
Committee (CSAC).
• CSAC assesses harmonization across other
existing measures and makes recommendations to
the Board.
• Board approval denotes CMS acceptance of the
indicator
