Developmental
Assets
Did you know that there are qualities you can give your
children that increase the likelihood that they will develop
into healthy, resilient adults? In 1990, the Search Institute
created a list of 40 common sense, positive experiences
and qualities that help influence the choices young people
make and help them become caring, responsible, successful
adults. We’ve listed the 40 developmental assets for children
ages eight through twelve throughout this booklet—look
for the symbol above to direct you to the various assets.
