need when they realized the refrigerator<br />
at the barn wasn’t large enough, so<br />
they donated a new one. Both volunteer<br />
with the <strong>Humane</strong> <strong>Society</strong>’s Pet<br />
Food Bank program.<br />
<strong>Humane</strong> <strong>Society</strong> Care Cadets Madelyn<br />
Hite, Grace Reinders, & Felicia Gordian<br />
spent the day educating the public<br />
about the Shelter’s animal protection<br />
and adoption services at the Family<br />
Jamboree at the IRC fairgrounds.<br />
On October 16, <strong>Humane</strong> <strong>Society</strong> volunteers<br />
distributed shopping passes at<br />
Macy’s “Shop for a Cause” event. For a<br />
$5.00 donation to HSVB&IRC, shoppers<br />
were able to receive from 10%-25% <strong>of</strong>f<br />
on most merchandise.<br />

Services, represented HSVB&IRC<br />
at the “National Night Out” crime<br />
prevention event. The <strong>Humane</strong> <strong>Society</strong><br />
wanted to educate the public about the<br />
connections between animal abuse and<br />
human abuse.<br />

neuter information at the Oceanside<br />
Business Association’s September Concert<br />
Series. HSVB&IRC was the OBA’s<br />
Charity <strong>of</strong> the Month.<br />
Members <strong>of</strong> St. Elizabeth's Church in<br />
Sebastian delivered a donation <strong>of</strong> pet<br />
supplies collected during a pet blessing<br />
by the Rev. David Newhart on October<br />
16. In all about 30 dogs and cats were<br />
blessed and free pet ID tags were given<br />
out by HSVB&IRC.<br />
At the Village Shops<br />
Saturday, February 19, 2011<br />

(parade at 3:00 p.m.)<br />
The shops are hosting a Mardi Gras<br />
for pets and their families, <strong>of</strong>fering<br />
special sales and promotions.<br />
Merchants will donate a portion <strong>of</strong><br />
sales to the <strong>Humane</strong> <strong>Society</strong>.<br />
There will be a Mardi Gras pet<br />
parade with prizes for costumed pets.<br />
Attendees are encouraged to bring<br />
a bag <strong>of</strong> pet food to donate to<br />
HSVB&IRC’s Pet Food Bank. Free pet<br />
ID tags will be available.<br />
GOLD BUYING EVENT<br />
Coming in February!<br />

<strong>Vero</strong> Estate Jewelry owner and animal lover,<br />
Michael Edmonds, has generously <strong>of</strong>fered to<br />
donate 10% <strong>of</strong> the total price paid to sellers<br />
for precious metals to the <strong>Humane</strong> <strong>Society</strong>.<br />
Save all <strong>of</strong> your old, broken, and unwanted<br />
gold, platinum, and silver jewelry for<br />
this event. He will also buy fine watches,<br />
diamonds, antique, and estate jewelry. Get<br />
"green" for yourself and let your "gold"<br />
benefit the Shelter animals.<br />
