OUR APPROACH
Bureau Veritas has developed a 4-stage methodology:
1- Understanding the system – involving meetings to
perform functional analysis and risk analysis.
2- Setting the objectives to be reached in terms of
reliability, availability, safety.
3- Analyzing the system, both in its hardware and
software components.
4- Performing improvement simulations: analyzing how
the system reacts to these improvements (this work is
done in close partnership with the client), drawing
conclusions and recommendations.
No actual testing of the facilities is performed, only an
analysis of the dysfunctional models (error tracking).

complete Safety Loop or Safety Instrumented System (SIS)
has been assessed.
Does the software embedded in the SIS have to be
reviewed and validated?
Yes, Bureau Veritas will perform software reviews when
applicable.
