Writing students receive periodic feedback and detailed descriptive final evaluations rather than grades, but a grade can be provided on written request. Generally, credit is not an issue for elementary school students. However, schools should place these courses on the school transcript. To aid differentiated instruction, some schools use these courses to supplement or replace part of their regular language arts courses.
