SAFETY AND SECURITY<br />
Ensuring safe and secure airport operations is a<br />
prerequisite of CAG’s mission to develop a vibrant air<br />
hub in Singapore. To provide passengers with a safe<br />
and seamless travelling experience and airport partners<br />
with a sustainable and conducive business environment,<br />
CAG’s Aerodrome Safety, <strong>Airport</strong> Emergency Service<br />
and Aviation Security units work together and with other<br />
airport partners to ensure the upholding of safety and<br />
security standards in all aspects of <strong>Changi</strong>’s operations.<br />
Aerodrome safety<br />
Following <strong>Changi</strong>’s corporatisation, CAG formed a<br />
new Aerodrome Safety unit, which is responsible for<br />
the management and implementation of CAG’s safety<br />
management system and processes, and compliance with<br />
safety regulatory requirements.<br />
integrating risk management and safety assurance<br />
processes into operational activities and planning<br />
functions. The revised Safety Management System - which<br />
clearly articulates CAG’s safety policy and objectives, and<br />
sets out well-defined safety practices and processes –<br />
seeks to minimise risk of harm to passengers, partners,<br />
businesses, airport users and employees.<br />
CAG also established a new Internal Safety Audit<br />
Programme to ensure its compliance with all safety<br />
regulatory requirements and international standards, as well<br />
as to drive continuous safety improvements. As a testament<br />
to its safety standards, <strong>Changi</strong> <strong>Airport</strong> received yet another<br />
deficiency-free rating from the International Federation<br />
of Air Line Pilots’ Association for the year 2009. Since its<br />
inception in 1981, <strong>Changi</strong> has achieved this rating every<br />
single year.<br />
