USER PREMISES TELECOMMUNICATIONS CABLING INFRASRUCTURE<br />

Several projects continue in the subcommittees. Two addenda<br />

on coaxial cabling (one for residential applications and one for<br />

data center applications) and one on additional administration<br />

requirements for data centers should be complete in 2007. A<br />

standard for industrial buildings has gone to ballot, and the<br />

subcommittee continues to work on this new standard.<br />

In addition to these documents, TR-42 addressed industry<br />

issues such as Power-over-Ethernet on telecommunications<br />

cabling (using data cables to provide low-voltage power to<br />

devices connected to the cabling) and the use of pulling<br />

lubricants on data cables.<br />

An ongoing project is the drafting of a TSB, to defi ne the<br />

additional requirements for health care facility cabling. This<br />

TSB is expected to roll over into a standard after the release of<br />

<strong>TIA</strong>-568-C.0, a new standard that defi nes the generic cabling<br />

foundation upon which additional types of premises standards<br />

can be based. Revisions to the <strong>TIA</strong>-568-B.1 (plus six addenda),<br />

<strong>TIA</strong>-568-B.2 ( plus 11 addenda) and <strong>TIA</strong>-568-B.3 (plus one<br />

addenda) standards continue as well.<br />
