VISA APPLICATIONS You will need a visa for your semester or year in Strasbourg. A visa is a document that gives you permission to travel to a specific country for a set period of time. The visa is issued by the embassy or consulate of country you’re visiting, and you must complete the application process correctly and by the deadline. Failure to do so can delay your travel, or worse, prevent you from entering the country. The process for obtaining a visa for France can be lengthy, so it is important to start the application process immediately. You will probably have to submit your visa application in person to the French consulate serving your home jurisdiction. Be sure to visit the SU Abroad Strasbourg visa information website: suabroad.syr.edu. SU Abroad will also send you a separate e-mail and mailing with detailed information on how to obtain a French visa. For questions related to French visas contact Julie Riverso at 315-443-3471 or via e-mail at jurivers@syr.edu. When you arrive in Strasbourg, Madame Barel, who is in charge of student services, will assist you in completing the part of the visa process that needs to be done in France.
