Welcome to our Friesians Directory for
2012-13
There has been a growing increase in the use
of the Friesian breed in recent years and many
Holstein breeders are now crossing their cows to
a Friesian sire.
Genus ABS has a wide choice of top quality
proven Friesian sires and also an impressive
selection of well bred young sires. We are
which includes top bulls for production, type and
also the health and management traits.
There is no doubt that the Friesian provides a
profitable choice for many farmers!
Introducing Fertile Friesians...
the world’s most fertile bulls from the
world’s most fertile breed
Deagate Quentin daughter
There has been a gradual decline in
the fertility of dairy cows in the UK
over the past few years and the
Friesian breed is a great choice for
farmers wanting to improve fertility
in their herds.
The Friesian breed has a 9 point
advantage in genetic base for Fertility
Index when compared to the Holstein
breed.
This means an average of 5 days
reduced calving interval due to
genetics alone (see graph 1).
When combined with the benefits of
heterosis, the Friesian bred
can offer a reduction of 12 days calving interval.
This reduction in calving interval is worth
approx £50/cow/year!
Fertile Friesians top the fertility rankings
What’s more, Genus ABS has some of the most
fertile sires in the breed. Deangate Quentin is
the breed’s top Fertility Index sire at +11.1,
equivalent to +20.1 on the Holstein base –
probably the World’s best fertility sire available
today from any breed!
