Maritime Pine<br />

Pinus pinaster<br />

Introduced from the Mediterranean in 1878<br />

<strong>and</strong> planted on the dunes at Wells <strong>and</strong><br />

Holkham. Its bark is browner than that of<br />

Corsican Pine, <strong>and</strong> more furrowed. The<br />

needles are long, <strong>and</strong> the clustered cones<br />

can be up to 15cm in length (compared with<br />

Corsican Pine in the photograph below).
