Plywood General Information (cont’d)
Marine Plywood manufactured to BS 1088 is durable because the veneers are restricted
to those with inherent, natural durability and will be made with few or no core
voids and all veneers of the same species (with the exception being Gaboon which
must be specifically marked).
Stock Marine Ply would be suitable for bulk heads, cabin housing etc.
For hulls and/or other extreme conditions, a Lloyds registered plywood such as Anchor
Marine or Bruynzeel Marine will be required.
Plywood Edge Seal
This is a phenolic resin, of a similar type to that used to bond exterior plywoods. It is
supplied as a liquid resin and powder hardener, which when mixed in the correct
proportions (5:1 by weight) harden to form a tough, inert and totally waterproof resin.
The resin is red in colour, water soluble until cured and has gap filling properties. It is
easy to mix on site and can be applied by brush, roller or spatula.
Available in the following sizes: to order
5.0Kg/1.0Kg Pack
2.5Kg/0.5Kg Pack.
If a clear sealant is required we can provide a different product on request.
