General information
This guide is written with
Buckinghamshire residents in mind,
but it will also be helpful if you live
outside of our area. If you pay your
Council Tax to Aylesbury Vale,
Chiltern & South Bucks or Wycombe
District Councils then we are your
home Local Authority (LA).
If you live outside of Buckinghamshire,
make sure you read the guidance
from your own LA on moving up
to secondary school - there may be
important dates, and things for you to
do, that are different.
We have tried to make the Guide as
clear as possible but in some places
we have had to use more complicated
language. Please contact us if you
would like us to explain anything to you.
At the time of going to print, the
County Council is aware of an
objection to the Office of the Schools
Adjudicator, about the admission
policy for The Highcrest Academy in
High Wycombe. As the objection is
still outstanding this means that the
Academy’s admission arrangements
may be subject to change. Up to date
information is available on our website
as well as that of the Academy –
The information in this guide relates
to admission to Year 7 in September
2013 and was correct at the time of
publication. It must not be assumed
that there will not be any changes
before or during the school year that
starts in September 2013 or in future
school years.
It is possible that other schools
may become an Academy after this
guide, and the Secondary Schools
Directory, have gone to print. If you
would like to check a school’s status
at any time, speak to them directly
and they will let you know.
When we say ‘we’, ‘our’, ‘us’, ‘The
Admissions & Transport Team’ or
‘Buckinghamshire LA’ we are talking
about Buckinghamshire County
Council. When we refer to ‘parent’
this also includes carers.
Introduction
You need to make an application to
show which secondary schools you
would like your child to go to - your
preferences. You can apply online,
or with a paper application form
if you don’t have internet access.
If you do not make an application
then your child will not be offered a
school place.

process. It contains information
that will be helpful to you;
right up until your child starts
secondary school.
