in the Workplace
Since 1997, Globe Telecom has had in its organization a unit that oversees the safety of
its operations and activities. But it was only in 2003 when an integrated management
system was adopted for Safety, Health, and Environment. Through the Safety, Health,
and Environment Management System (SHEMS), the campaign for Safety and Health grew, and
provided a more focused approach to the programs that were already being implemented.

Our Safety, Health
and Environment Policy
Globe Telecom is committed to provide protection to
ensure the safety and health of our employees and
the communities within our operations. We are also
committed to the preservations of the environment.
It is Management’s primary objective and the
employee’s collective responsibility to meet this
commitment. To this end, we shall:
• Continuously assess all health and safety hazards
in the workplace and provide programs toward their
elimination;
• Comply with all safety, health and the environmental
laws applicable to our telecom business;
• Implement programs to reduce our waste generation
and conserve our natural resources to minimize our
operations’ environmental impact;
• Train and motivate our employees to work in a
safe and environmentally responsible manner and
encourage our contractors and suppliers to adopt
these principles;
• Communicate openly our safety, health and
environmental performance to all interested internal and
external parties
• Conduct a regular review of our management system
to ensure that the commitment of this policy is met,
and that we strive for continuous improvement.
SHE Management
System Policies & Procedure
Policies and procedures are in place to ensure the
safety & health of field personnel involved in all the
critical and non-critical operations and activities
of the organization. Guidelines on construction &
electrical safety, equipment installations, motor
vehicle safety, tower safety, radio frequency (RF)
radiation and management of hazardous materials
are outlined in the SHEMS manual disseminated
