FORMER EMPLOYEE ETHICS AND CONFLICT OF INTEREST<br />

I. The <strong>Port</strong>’s Interests Come First<br />
Former <strong>Employee</strong>s <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Port</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Seattle</strong> who are engaging in transactions with<br />
the <strong>Port</strong> shall do so in an ethical manner and in accordance with this policy. The<br />
purpose <strong>of</strong> this policy is to ensure that <strong>Port</strong> employees are not influenced in their<br />
decision-making and actions by the possibility <strong>of</strong> obtaining employment or other<br />
advantages with third parties after leaving the <strong>Port</strong>. It is also designed to ensure<br />
that Former <strong>Employee</strong>s do not use their prior position at the <strong>Port</strong> for special<br />
consideration or advantage.<br />
II.<br />
Expectations <strong>of</strong> Former <strong>Employee</strong>s<br />
A. Special Consideration Prohibited<br />
A Former <strong>Employee</strong> shall not request or otherwise seek special consideration,<br />
treatment or advantage from other <strong>Port</strong> staff or <strong>Port</strong> Commissioners. A Former<br />
<strong>Employee</strong> shall avoid circumstances which to a reasonable person might appear<br />
that the Former <strong>Employee</strong> is requesting or otherwise seeking or receiving<br />
special consideration, treatment or advantage from other <strong>Port</strong> staff or <strong>Port</strong><br />
Commissioners.<br />
B. Appearances Before Commission<br />
For one (1) year after “Termination” <strong>of</strong> <strong>Port</strong> employment, a Former <strong>Employee</strong><br />
may not appear before the <strong>Port</strong> Commission on behalf <strong>of</strong> another individual<br />
or entity, whether or not for compensation <strong>of</strong> any kind, in relation to any case,<br />
proceeding, application or matter in which such Former <strong>Employee</strong> participated in<br />
a decision-making, negotiation, review, selection, supervisory or other significant<br />
activity during his/her period <strong>of</strong> <strong>Port</strong> employment. By way <strong>of</strong> limited exception,<br />
