when setting up a private foundation.
The Foundation's experts are available to
offer advice on donor strategies that can
protect personal assets while achieving
philanthropic goals.
With gifts of cash, stock, real estate or
other assets, donors can entrust a fund
of permanently held principal to the
Foundation for investment, while
distributing the earnings to the causes
that will help the community most.
Options include the following:
FUNDS
Donor-Advised Funds
An advised fund allows you ongoing
involvement and maximum flexibility in
mapping the direction of your gifts. You
recommend organizations for benefit in
keeping with your concerns and leave the
administrative duties in the hands of the
Foundation. Our staff will keep you
apprised of the many programs that
could benefit from your generosity.
Donor-Designated Funds
A designated fund is an excellent option
if you want the proceeds to benefit a
specific nonprofit in our community. The
Foundation will respect your wishes in
perpetuity, and the tax benefits to you –
as with all of our funds – are immediate.
Field-of-Interest Funds
Donors with pronounced allegiance to
particular issues often elect to establish
field-of-interest funds. You select the
purpose of the fund, such as meeting the
needs of the chronically ill or combating
“Since they took over, the Foundation’s overall
management, including their goals and
investment strategy, has been excellent,
and I’ve been very pleased with the
fundraising help they have provided.”
Roger Brown, Cardiac Rehab Nursing Scholarship founder
substance abuse in teens, and we identify
the programs making the strongest
progress towards your objectives.
Scholarship Funds
The Foundation houses several nursing
scholarship funds and provides additional
scholarships to encourage young people
in our community to pursue careers in
healthcare. To bolster health resources
in our area, you can establish a
scholarship fund or give directly to the
Foundation, specifying that your gift be
restricted for scholarship purposes.
Bequests and Planned Gifts
The Foundation currently receives income
from charitable lead and remainder trusts
established to promote health in our
community. Naming the Foundation in
your will or making a planned gift in your
lifetime creates tax advantages for you
and leaves a legacy that benefits your
community forever.
Unrestricted Gifts
Unrestricted contributions to our mission
reinforce our operational security and
assist the Foundation in funneling
maximum resources back to local
programs. Join the growing circle of
support for our Annual Fund by making
gifts directly to the Foundation or
through either the Combined Federal
Campaign or the Donor Choice Program
of any area United Way.
Memorial and Honorarium Gifts
Honor a loved one by establishing a
charitable fund at the Brandywine Health
& Wellness Foundation, or recognize a
special anniversary or birthday by asking
others to join you in making a charitable
gift to support health and wellness in
general, or for a specific purpose
important to the person being recognized.
The Foundation will send a note to the
person in whose name you are giving (or
their family) informing them of your gift.
