Intra College T.T. Match<br />

An Intra College Table Tennis Tournament was organized<br />
for the faculty and staff of the institute from 18 th – 20 th<br />
December 2007. About 16 contenders participated in the<br />
tournament. The tournament was kick started by an<br />
inaugural match between Prof. Sangram Mudali, Director<br />
and Mr. Sidharth B. Neelamani, Course Coordinator,<br />
MCA. The semi-finals were played between Mr. Abhro<br />
Mukherjee, Faculty & Mr. Bhagabata Behera, Staff and<br />
Mr. Sidhartha B. Neelamani & Mr. Gopabandhu<br />
Uttarakabata, Staff. Mr. Bhagabat Behera won the<br />
tournament beating Mr. Gopabandhu Uttarakabata in the<br />
final match and received the ‘Tournament Trophy’ from<br />
Ms. Geetika Mudali, Placement Director, <strong>NIST</strong>.<br />

A 7-day Yoga Camp was organized at <strong>NIST</strong> Ladies’<br />
Hostel- ‘Sagar’, Gopalpur-on-sea from 21 st – 27 th January<br />
<strong>2008</strong>. Around 50 students participated in the said camp.<br />
The students were illumined with the various benefits of<br />
doing different asanas of yoga, and pranayam.<br />

A Pleasure Trip to Hyderabad<br />
Who doesn’t like to have a break from the routine life A<br />
troupe of 64 faculty members, some with their family<br />
members set out to visit the historical Info-City,<br />
Hyderabad. Arrangements were made for almost<br />
everything starting from the train tickets, lodging and<br />
boarding to sightseeing and video show. A stretch of<br />
almost 22 hours was spent in one compartment of the train,<br />
with a gala celebration of lunch, snacks, and dinner and<br />
most memorably the merry-making in all-being-together.<br />
The expedition started with the visit to Salarjung Museum<br />
and witnessing there the ‘Veiled Rebecca’, one of the<br />
<strong>NIST</strong> Faculties at ‘Golconda Fort’, Hyderabad<br />
master pieces of fine art and masonry. The exhibition of emotion on a coy face of that white stone, lifesized<br />
statue astounded all of us. It seemed as if it rejuvenated the spirit of discovering more and more<br />
in this short tour. And the same spirit took the group to one of the rich remnants of history, ‘The<br />
Golconda Fort’, the witness to the harsh barbarian past. The ‘Light-and-Sound Show’ at the fort made<br />
the members vicariously remember the victims of the massacre that had made the fort devoid of its<br />
