CHAPTER 3<br />

LAW REFORM AND REVISION<br />

An <strong>Act</strong> to provide for the reform of the laws <strong>and</strong><br />

for the revision of the laws of <strong>The</strong> <strong>Bahamas</strong>, <strong>and</strong> for<br />

matters incidental thereto or connected therewith.<br />

PART I<br />

PRELIMINARY<br />

1. This <strong>Act</strong> may be cited as the <strong>Law</strong> <strong>Reform</strong> <strong>and</strong><br />

<strong>Revision</strong> <strong>Act</strong>.<br />

2. In this <strong>Act</strong>, unless the context otherwise requires —<br />

“Commission” means the <strong>Law</strong> <strong>Reform</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Revision</strong><br />

Commission appointed under section 3;<br />

“the 1929 Edition” means the revised edition of the<br />

laws of the former Colony of the Bahama<br />

Isl<strong>and</strong>s prepared under the authority of the<br />

Statute <strong>Law</strong> Revised Edition <strong>Act</strong>, numbered 21<br />

of 1921, as amended, that appears as Chapter 2<br />

of the 1929 Edition;<br />

“the 1957 Edition” means the revised edition of the<br />

statute law of the former Colony of the Bahama<br />

Isl<strong>and</strong>s prepared under the authority of the<br />

Statute <strong>Law</strong> Revised Edition <strong>Act</strong>, 1957;<br />

“the 1965 Edition” means the revised edition of the<br />

statute law of the former Colony of the Bahama<br />

Isl<strong>and</strong>s prepared under the authority of the<br />

Revised Edition of the <strong>Law</strong>s <strong>Act</strong>, 1964;<br />

“Minister” means the Minister responsible for <strong>Law</strong><br />

<strong>Reform</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Revision</strong>;<br />

“revised edition of the statute law” means a revised<br />

edition of the statute law of <strong>The</strong> <strong>Bahamas</strong><br />

prepared under the provisions of this <strong>Act</strong>;<br />

“revised edition of subsidiary legislation” means the<br />

revised edition of proclamations, rules, orders,<br />

regulations, bye-laws, <strong>and</strong> other forms of<br />
