Live Auction 1. Since then, he has received multiple commissions, fellowships, and grants that have allowed him to travel and photograph as well as publish extensively. His subjects include folk art, roadside architecture, signs, county courthouses, baseball parks, soccer stadiums, and private clubs. Currently, he lives in Boston and teaches at Tufts University and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts. 2. Agnieszka Sosnowska Nude, Self Portrait, 2012 Toned Silver Gelatin Print, 1/5 Signed Recto, 8 x 10 in. $600 Courtesy of the artist sosphotographs.com Agnieszka Sosnowska received an MFA in Studio Education from Boston University in 1999 and a BFA in Photography from Massachusetts College of Art and Design in 1995. She is the recipient of the 1991 Annie Blake Award for her photographic narrative work in Sweden, and the 2005 Skriðuklaustur, East Iceland Award for a series of self portraits that reflected transition. She has had numerous solo and group exhibits in Iceland, the Lancaster Museum of Art, PA; the Pleides Gallery of Art, NY; the Walters Art Museum, MD; the University of Northern Iowa; and several others. Sosnowska has also done documentary photographic work in Africa, Poland, and Iceland. 3. She is a New York-based photographer whose work is represented in New York by the Yancey Richardson Gallery and in Boston by Gallery Kayafas. Her photographs have been exhibited internationally, and she has published two well-received monographs: Acquainted with the Night and Night/Shift. Saville has been awarded grants by both the New York Foundation for the Arts and the New York State Council on the Arts. Her photographs are represented in such distinguished collections as the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, CA; the George Eastman House, NY; the Museum of the City of Paris, France; the Museum of the City of New York, NY; the Brooklyn Museum, NY; and The New York Public Library, NY. She lives in New York City with her husband, the poet Philip Fried. 4. Shelby Lee Adams Eagles Nest, ‘08, 2008 Gelatin Silver Print, 7/25 Signed Recto and Verso, 16 x 20 in. $1,200 Courtesy of the artist Shelby Lee Adams is an environmental portrait photographer best known for his work that depicts Appalachian family life. He was educated at the Cleveland Institute of Art and Massachusetts College of Art and Design, and is the author of four photography books: Appalachian Legacy, Appalachian Lives, Appalachian Portraits, and Salt & Truth. His photography has been collected and exhibited by over 60 national and international public museum collections and numerous private collections. His work resides in the Musee De L’Elysee Lausanne, Switzerland; the National Gallery of Canada, Ottawa; the Whitney Museum of American Art, NY; and the Amon Carter Museum,TX. 5. Marie Cosindas Faye & Peter, 1976, 1976 Archival Inkjet Print Signed Recto and Verso, 8 x 10 in. $3,000 Courtesy of the artist Originally studying painting at Boston Museum School, Cosindas worked as a designer from 1944–1960. While studying with Ansel Adams, she worked almost exclusively in blackand-white photography, making several series of still lifes and architectural photographs. In 1962, she was one of about a dozen photographers who were invited by the Polaroid Corporation to test their new instant-developing color film. She then began to work exclusively in color, manipulating various components of the process to produce warmer tones. Using only available light, she produced a distinct portfolio of portraits of well-known figures. She later co-founded the Association of Heliographers, a New York photographers’ cooperative that included some of the most influential American art photographers of the 1960s. Her solo show at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City in 1966 was the institution’s first to feature color photography. 6. He has a long history with Boston and Boston University: between 1963 and 1986, he was Chairman, Director of Graduate Studies, and Professor of Art at BU while also teaching at Smith College and Cornell University. He holds two graduate degrees from BU and a PhD from Harvard University. Chiarenza has lectured at institutions all over the country, and he is the author of numerous essays and the biography Aaron Siskind: Pleasures and Terrors. His photographs have been in over 80 solo shows and in over 260 group exhibitions. He was one of the earliest members of the Society for Photographic Education, and has developed and guided numerous organizations—including the PRC—devoted to the photographic arts.
