Launched in spring 2011, Iowa First: Our Campaign
for Breakthrough Medicine is an ambitious
$500 million campaign that will transform medical
research, education, and patient care at UI Hospitals
and Clinics and the UI Carver College of Medicine.
Our vision for a healthier future—and our campaign
for breakthrough medicine—grew from a detailed
assessment of the long-term health-care needs of
Iowans, how the UI fulfills the state’s medical needs,
and what resources are required to achieve our mission
of changing medicine and changing lives.
This campaign is focused largely on enhancing our
capacity for life-changing breakthroughs in Iowa’s
nationally recognized centers of excellence while
identifying new opportunities to serve Iowa and the
world with innovation and compassion.
Our funding priorities for this campaign include the
following areas:
