The symposium will highlight successful collaborative
research programs between Australia and Europe and
provide a forum to foster new collaborations, particularly
with Germany. Contributions will showcase the fields of
materials science and engineering as represented in the
topics of this conference. Abstracts are welcome from
across the full spectrum of materials engineering including
fundamental materials sciences, characterization methods
and applications of materials technology and will be
grouped into specific topic sessions. The two professional
societies, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Materialkunde and
Materials Australia, have recently established bi-lateral
relationships which offer reciprocal advantages for their
members, such as an initial one-year online membership in
the other society. This symposium will not only showcase
the excellent scientific output of Australian-European collaborations
it will also strengthen established relationships
and provide opportunities for new collaborations in order
to build a common future for our two societies.
meet Professionals
A special symposium in honor of Professor Günter Gottstein and his unique
contributions to Materials Science.
The symposium will focus on a series of related topics in which Professor
Gottstein has shown particular interest and made significant contributions
over the years, based on the general theme of Characterization and Design
of Microstructure for Advanced Materials, and including:
Characterization and control of microstructure and texture evolution; Crystal
plasticity, deformation and recrystallization; Materials simulation and modeling;
Thermodynamics and kinetics of grain boundaries.
