Environmental Attributes and Product Certifications
SCA AfH Professional Hygiene is a leader in offering responsible paper products. Throughout this catalog,
products with certain attributes or certifications are identified in the specification charts with the following
symbols.
Made from 100%
recycled material
More than 750,000 tons of recycled paper (of
which more than 400,000 is post-consumer
fiber) is used each year to make our recycled
Tork products. SCA has been using recycled
paper since 1927.
EPA compliant
Many Tork products meet the requirements the
United States Environmental Protection Agency
(EPA) has set for the minimum amount of postconsumer
waste to be used in recycled products.
• EPA compliant Hand Towels contain a minimum
of 40% post-consumer waste.
• EPA compliant Facial Tissue contain a minimum
of 20% post-consumer waste.
• EPA compliant Bath Tissue contain a minimum
of 20% post-consumer waste.
• EPA compliant Napkins contain a minimum of
30% post-consumer waste.
• EPA compliant Wipers contain a minimum of
40% post-consumer waste.
Some products without this symbol may also be EPA

Compostable
Certified by the Biodegradable Products Institute
(www.BPIworld.org), all of our Universal and
Advanced Tork napkins, including custom print,
are guaranteed compostable in municipal or
commercial facilities. We also have independent
verification from a commercial composting
facility that all Tork towels will effectively break
down in the composting process.
Green Seal certified
Green Seal (www.GreenSeal.org) is an
independent non-profit organization that is
dedicated to safeguarding the environment and
transforming the marketplace by promoting
the manufacture, purchase and use of
environmentally responsible products and
services. Green Seal certified Tork products fall
into the following 2 categories:
• GS-1: This product meets Green Seal Standard
GS-1 based on chlorine-free processing, energy
and water efficiency, and content of 100%
recovered material with a minimum of 50% postconsumer
material for towels and napkins, 25%
post-consumer material for bath tissue.
• GS-41: This product meets Green Seal
Standard GS-41A based on effective performance
and protective limits on VOCs and human &
environmental toxicity.
EcoLogo certified
EcoLogo (www.EcoLogo.org) is North America’s
most widely recognized and respected
certification of environmental leadership. By
setting standards and certifying products in
more than 120 categories, EcoLogo helps you
identify, trust, buy, and sell environmentally
preferable goods and services.
National Sanitation
Foundation ® certified
NSF International (www.nsf.org) is an
independent, not-for-profit organization that
provides standards development, product
certification, auditing, education and risk
management for public health and the
environment. Manufacturers, regulators and
consumers alike look to NSF International for
the development of public health standards
and certification that help protect the world's
food, water, health and consumer products.
Forest Stewardship Council TM (FSC ® ) certified
FSC certification ensures that products come from responsibly managed forests
that provide environmental, social and economic benefits. FSC Chain-of-Custody
certification traces the path of products from forests through the supply chain.
