piece! And then you’re just restoring one, not building it! And you miss out on great engines – probably end up<br />
with a side valve Ford Prefect 1172cc power unit!<br />
Well, the Hot Rod and Cobra kit car builders think not.<br />
Does it mean that you cannot bring in parts <strong>of</strong> the vehicles, or perhaps the chassis, suspension and major bits?<br />
So, if there is more than the simple assembling required, and the pieces come into the country as vehicle parts,<br />
it seems ok. In fact, there are a few local manufacturers <strong>of</strong> vehicles that import parts <strong>of</strong> kit vehicles.<br />
Ordering and clearing and paying duty on the various parts, i.e. chassis, suspension, shocks/springs, control<br />
arms, bodywork, dashboard, steering, seats, ro<strong>of</strong>, tonneau cover, side screens etc. would work so long as they<br />
were imported as car parts and not as a kit car!<br />
But, let’s not get completely carried away just yet. What about registering and licensing?<br />
This proves to be less difficult. Hot rods and altered <strong>of</strong>f road vehicles do it all the time. Also, there are a few kit<br />
car suppliers who make it fairly regularly.<br />
