AMC – The Quad City Section is one of three local
technical society sections sponsoring the 27 th
Annual Agricultural Machinery Conference (AMC)
to be held on May 7-9 at the Ramada Hotel and Five
Sullivan Brothers Convention Center in downtown
Waterloo. The Section receives a portion of the net
proceeds from the AMC which allow us to offer the
Section Scholarships and to hold the line on Section
Meeting registration fees. So your continued
support of the AMC is encouraged both as an
excellent source of technical information and
networking contacts but also as a way to support the
Quad City Section. More information on this year’s

Closing Notes –
At the Agricultural Equipment Technology
Conference held in Louisville in February, Section
Member Rusty Unterzuber (on the left in the above
photo) was honored with the AETC MPV award.
Rusty has been a long-serving member of the AETC
planning committee and has served the committee
long and steadfastly despite a job change that
complicated his involvement. Additionally, he has
continuously stepped into leadership roles as
needed, even taking notes for the monthly
conference calls. Rusty has also been extremely
involved in the Standards meetings held during
AETC over the years and in AE50 awards

coordination. Rusty is a 35-year member of
ASABE.
In the photo, Iowa Governor Terry Branstad and
Lieutenant Governor Kim Reynolds are presenting
the 2012 QCESC (Quad City Engineering and
Science Council) Junior Scientist of the Year Award
to Section Member Shannon Prantner at the
QCESC’s 50th Annual National Engineers Week
Banquet held on March 1. Shannon is Manager of
Product Safety and Compliance for Deere &
Company. Her leadership in ASABE and industry
committees has led to her active participation in
standards development at both the national and
international levels. Before assuming her present
position, she was responsible for product safety and
engineering standards for Deere’s combines and
seeding equipment working both locally and in
Germany. She has been an active member of
ASABE serving locally as Chair of the Quad City
Section and nationally on the ASABE Board of
Trustees. She received the Quad City Section’s
Young Member of the Year Award in 2009 and the
ASABE Gale A. Holloway Professional
Development Award in 2010.
As of April 16 th , the Section had balances of $
4,456.45 in its checking account, $ 444.45 in its
savings account and two certificate of deposit’s
valued at a total of $ 4,682.42.
