Previous World Champion and multiple Griffith Cup winner Grant Harrison in his Grand Prix Hydroplane
‘GP1’will be hoping for a return to the winners circle, though he will not have it all his own way with the
Superman, Dean Gleeson in his Blown Alcohol Displacement (BAD) boat ‘Kryptonite’ sure to push. The
engines are making in excess of 1800hp and propelling the craft to speeds up to 180mp (270kph). In all
over 70 race teams from across Australia are expected to compete for $20,000 prize money.
The event is supported by the Boating Industry Association of Victoria with the aim to promote safe boating
for the recreational boating industry and will have a display and stand over the weekend.
The weekend starts with practice on Saturday morning with racing commencing at noon. Lake Mulwala
Power opens on the Yarrawonga Foreshore at 9am Saturday 29 th and Sunday 30 th , with presentations
concluding the event at the Mulwala Water Ski Club Sunday evening.
