We do not make our mailing list available to other organizations. 2 Club Officer Nominations for 2011 Norm Larabee PSRG is quite fortunate to have another fine group of volunteer members who are ready, willing and able to serve as Club Officers and to take on the leadership of our club for 2011. The following nominations were announced and accepted by the members present at our October 2010 general meeting. During the meeting, there were no additional nominations from the floor prior to the nominatins being closed. The only position that was not filled at that time was the important position of club secretary. Right after meeting adjournment Ken Stobbe stepped up and told the Nominating Committee and our President that he would be honored to serve as Club Secretary in 2011 - - - Thank you Ken! He is doing well, spent one night in the hospital and went home ASAP after that. As of the 20th he is sounding great, Karen wishes he was out of the house and working on his V-8’s, and he hopes to see us all at the Banquet. If you know of any club member who could use a card of sympathy or "cheering up", or a bouquet of flowers, anything along that line, please let me know, either by phone 360-387-1580 or e-mail camanodick@live.com. Presidents Page Bob Heckel Greetings, The final vote on Relocation was: • Luther Memorial Church 41 • National Guard Armory 6 • Nile Country Club 2 • Mercer Island Community Center 1 50 people is an excellent turnout for us and an 81% vote for “The Church” is a clear statement. Thanks to Bruce Anderson and Phil Howard and the entire Relocation Committee. A special thanks to Bill Meade for his work as liaison with “the Church.” And we shouldn’t forget Gerry Herber, Chuck McLeod and Bruce Anderson, the Questionnaire Committee who kicked the process off. The November 2nd General Meeting will be held at Luther Memorial Church. Normal 7:30 start time and Meeting structure. We have elections and a program which should be a lot of fun. As we move into a new location there are some things we should consider. Norm Larabee has provided information on “The Church’s” location, check your map, GPS or whatever and allow yourself plenty of time. Also, we need to respect the Church’s property and find out what we can do and can’t do, what we should and shouldn’t do and finally what we can and can’t use. I’m sure Bill and Laurie Meade will help us out here. One other item of good news---Ken Stobbe volunteered to run for (be) Secretary. Thanks, Ken I planned to include a list of nominees for the Club Awards, but the list is to long! And, unfortunately no one has stepped up to take on the Newsletter---yet As excited as we are about moving, it is hard not to be sad about leaving the Armory. Sharon and I have been members of PSRG for 17-18 years. We’ve had a lot of good times at the Armory, met a lot of nice people and leaving brings to mind PSRG’ers such as Greg Bisson, Red Smith and Dave Arnold who are no longer with us. Bob 2010 CLUB AWARDS We will handle the balloting for Club Awards just as we do the election of the Board of Directors. There were blank information forms available at the September and October General Meetings. Completed form(s), stating your reason for nominating a particular candidate were turned to the acting Secretary at the September or October General Meeting. Nominations were closed after the October General Meeting and a ballot is being prepared so voting can take place at the November General Meeting. Here are the three Awards; RESTORATION: This award goes to a person who is actively involved in the restoration process, either by accomplishing a partial or total restoration of a 1932 - 1953 Ford, Mercury or Lincoln vehicle and related products or by providing input and assistance for the benefit of other members of the Club. INSPIRATION: This award goes to a person who influences and motivates fellow Club members to achieve higher goals. Inspires you to start or finish a project or attend Club functions. PARTICIPATION: This award goes to a person who faithfully attends Club activities, Club meetings and donates his/her time and energy to make the functions of the Club better for all. There are many Club members who have made a substantial contribution to the Club this year. Give this some thoughtful consideration so we can recognize and reward the most deserving people. GENERAL MEETING NOVEMBER 2nd - PSRG’S SILENT AUCTION The purpose of this event is to have fun and raise money for the U.S. Coast Guard Family and Friends Holiday Stockings for Homeless Children. The funds are used to buy age appropriate things for stockings for children in shelters 0-18 years of age. Also, a few stockings for kids living on the streets which are distributed through established organizations. How will it work Instead of donating money, bring an item(s) from home or buy an item(s). Something you think a PSRG’ER would find interesting. What should I bring An antique, collectible, handicraft, something you made, something new or a gift certificate. You can package more than one article into a biddable item. These items will be displayed on a table so they need to be relatively small, light and CLEAN! What kinds of things should you consider bringing Think of what is popular at our Christmas Gift exchange. Here are a few ideas: automobilia, gas station items, auto literature, books, tools, Christmas ornaments or other holiday gifts, caps, interesting white elephant items with a wide appeal. (See picture of items auctioned off by another club.) Value of the item: keep in the $5.00 to $25.00 range. What should I not bring That’s hard to answer but items with limited appeal such as clothing and car parts. Remember, anything that does not sell, the donor takes home. Try and get to the Meeting a little early. Someone will help set your item up. They will need to know what the starting price should be, so give that some thought before hand. Bidding will start as soon as items are displayed. The starting price will be listed on the bidding sheet. Bids will be in increments of $2.00! Bidding will cease during the business portion of the Meeting and resume afterwards. Bidding will end at approximately 9:00. You can pay for your items you purchase by check or cash. Think about it. The more people participating with creative/interesting items the more fun we’ll have and the more money we’ll raise for charity. 3
