Assistant Coach
IPFW (2006)
Second Season
Brent Alwine will enter his second season in 2010 as
assistant coach for the Creighton baseball program. His
primary duties will be working with hitting and outfielders,
while overseeing Bluejay Baseball Camps.
In his first year in Omaha, the Creighton hitters finished
the season with a .299 average, their best mark
since the 2005 team. He also worked with the catchers
and outfielders. The team had five players from its everyday
lineup named to the All-MVC team.
Prior to coming to Omaha, Alwine coached at IPFW
for two years. While there, he worked with the hitters
and infielders. He was an assistant coach in IPFW’s first
year in conference play where he worked with one All-
Summit League player and a Ping Freshman All-American
Ḣe concluded an impressive career at IPFW under
head coach Billy Gernon. He posted a .311 career batting
average for IPFW, and in 2006 Alwine also tallied a career
fielding percentage as a four-year starter in the infield at
.951.
In July of 2008, Alwine coached a team in Puerto
Rico, as part of Coast to Coast Baseball. He also spent
the 2006 and 2007 summer as a baseball instructor at
Camp Greylock where he worked under Bob Morgan retired
head baseball coach from Indiana University.
Alwine is a graduate of North Miami High School in
Mexico, Ind., and graduated from IPFW in 2006 and
earned his Masters degree in 2009 from IPFW. He is married
to the former Brandi Alspach.

Volunteer Assistant Coach
Butler (2007)
First Season
Brandon Tormoehlen enters his first season as an assistant
coach for the Creighton baseball program. His on
the field duties will include coaching the catchers as well
as assisting with the hitters and running the bullpen during
games. Off the field, he will assist with on-campus recruiting
as well as other day-to-day baseball operations.
This past summer Tormoehlen was the head coach
of the Grand Lake Mariners of the Great Lakes Collegiate
Summer League. His squad finished the season
with a 25-10 mark, good enough for second place in the
league.
Last year, Tormoehlen was an assistant coach at Indiana
Tech, a NAIA program in Fort Wayne, Ind. Off the
field, he was in charge of the team’s strength and conditioning
program along with coordinating team travel
arrangements and recruiting.
Prior to that, Tormoehlen spent two seasons as a
high-school coach. He coached for Noblesville HS in the
2007-2008 season and Bishop Chatard in the 2005-2006
season. During the summers of 2007 and 2008, he was
a head coach in the Indiana Bulls Baseball Program; one
of the nation’s premier amateur baseball organizations.
Tormoehlen played his college ball at Butler. He saw
action behind the plate during the 2004 and 2005 seasons;
but an injury forced him out in 2006. After a rehab
year, he was able to get back to action in 2007. During
his career he compiled a .972 fielding percentage.
Tormoehelen graduated valedictorian from Brownstown
Central HS in Brownstown, Ind., and graduated
from Butler University in 2007 with a degree in secondary
education. He sent two years teaching high school
mathematics before coming to Omaha.
