Second Season<br />

Brent Alwine will enter his second season in 2010 as<br />

assistant coach for the <strong>Creighton</strong> baseball program. His<br />

primary duties will be working with hitting and outfielders,<br />

while overseeing Bluejay Baseball Camps.<br />

In his first year in Omaha, the <strong>Creighton</strong> hitters finished<br />

the season with a .299 average, their best mark<br />

since the 2005 team. He also worked with the catchers<br />

and outfielders. The team had five players from its everyday<br />

lineup named to the All-MVC team.<br />

Prior to coming to Omaha, Alwine coached at IPFW<br />

for two years. While there, he worked with the hitters<br />

and infielders. He was an assistant coach in IPFW’s first<br />

year in conference play where he worked with one All-<br />

Summit League player and a Ping Freshman All-American<br />

Ḣe concluded an impressive career at IPFW under<br />

head coach Billy Gernon. He posted a .311 career batting<br />

average for IPFW, and in 2006 Alwine also tallied a career<br />

fielding percentage as a four-year starter in the infield at<br />

.951.<br />

In July of 2008, Alwine coached a team in Puerto<br />

Rico, as part of Coast to Coast Baseball. He also spent<br />

the 2006 and 2007 summer as a baseball instructor at<br />

Camp Greylock where he worked under Bob Morgan retired<br />

head baseball coach from Indiana <strong>University</strong>.<br />

Alwine is a graduate of North Miami High School in<br />

Mexico, Ind., and graduated from IPFW in 2006 and<br />

earned his Masters degree in 2009 from IPFW. He is married<br />

to the former Brandi Alspach.<br />

First Season<br />

Brandon Tormoehlen enters his first season as an assistant<br />

coach for the <strong>Creighton</strong> baseball program. His on<br />

the field duties will include coaching the catchers as well<br />

as assisting with the hitters and running the bullpen during<br />

games. Off the field, he will assist with on-campus recruiting<br />

as well as other day-to-day baseball operations.<br />

This past summer Tormoehlen was the head coach<br />

of the Grand Lake Mariners of the Great Lakes Collegiate<br />

Summer League. His squad finished the season<br />

with a 25-10 mark, good enough for second place in the<br />

league.<br />

Last year, Tormoehlen was an assistant coach at Indiana<br />

Tech, a NAIA program in Fort Wayne, Ind. Off the<br />

field, he was in charge of the team’s strength and conditioning<br />

program along with coordinating team travel<br />

arrangements and recruiting.<br />

Prior to that, Tormoehlen spent two seasons as a<br />

high-school coach. He coached for Noblesville HS in the<br />

2007-2008 season and Bishop Chatard in the 2005-2006<br />

season. During the summers of 2007 and 2008, he was<br />

a head coach in the Indiana Bulls Baseball Program; one<br />

of the nation’s premier amateur baseball organizations.<br />

Tormoehlen played his college ball at Butler. He saw<br />

action behind the plate during the 2004 and 2005 seasons;<br />

but an injury forced him out in 2006. After a rehab<br />

year, he was able to get back to action in 2007. During<br />

his career he compiled a .972 fielding percentage.<br />

Tormoehelen graduated valedictorian from Brownstown<br />

Central HS in Brownstown, Ind., and graduated<br />

from Butler <strong>University</strong> in 2007 with a degree in secondary<br />

education. He sent two years teaching high school<br />

mathematics before coming to Omaha.<br />
