Candidates must complete a written evaluation of their DA3 practical<br />
work 24 hours after the DA3 examination. The evaluation must be<br />
completed on an answer booklet under formal supervision. Centres must<br />
take this into consideration when arranging the date for the DA3 practical<br />
examination. The visiting examiner will bring the question paper to the<br />
centre along with information on how to despatch the completed<br />
evaluations. The work must be despatched immediately after<br />
completion and should be received by the examiner 48 hours after the<br />
DA3 practical exam.<br />
Rock specimens should be opened and checked on receipt. Specimens<br />
and geological equipment for testing should be arranged appropriately for<br />
candidates’ use. Question papers, Resource Sheets and Mineral Data<br />
Sheets to be opened at the beginning of the assessment session.<br />
Candidates have 1½ hours to complete the assessment. The marking<br />
scheme will be supplied via the WJEC secure <strong>website</strong> by midday on<br />
Friday 1 May. Candidates’ scripts should be marked and the appropriate<br />
sample despatched to moderator by 15 May. Marks should also be<br />
submitted to WJEC by 15 May <strong>2015</strong>.<br />
Controlled Assignments to be accessible to candidates from 2 March to<br />
10 May. During this window candidates will have a 10 hour time limit to<br />
complete all tasks. Completion date to be determined by the centre,<br />
taking into account a requirement for despatch to examiner by the 10<br />
May <strong>2015</strong>.Details of the allocated examiner for this unit will be<br />
despatched to centres in late April.<br />
Instructions for supervisors received in centres for immediate opening in<br />
February. 1323/01-E Practical; Setting-up Instructions may be opened<br />
from Thursday 23 April to allow supervisors to have a trial run. It should<br />
be stored securely until 30 April. Duration of test 1½ hours. The<br />
candidates’ work should then be stored securely by the exams officer<br />
until being despatched to the examiner by 15 May <strong>2015</strong>. Details of the<br />
allocated examiner for this unit will be despatched to centres in late April<br />
