The EXP2500 is supported for connection to selected IBM System x servers through
the IBM ServeRAID M5025 SAS/SATA Controller.

Description
EXP2500 connects directly to selected System x servers using an IBM ServeRAID
M5025 SAS/SATA Controller. Storage capacity can be easily scaled by daisychain
connection of multiple EXP2500 enclosures from a single ServeRAID M5025
controller port. RAID technology and other advanced functions are provided through
the ServeRAID M5025 controller.
EXP2500 is available in two models:
IBM System Storage EXP2512 Express Storage TM Enclosure
• Twelve 3.5-inch SAS drive bays with the following drive options:
– 300 GB, 450 GB, and 600 GB 15,000 rpm high-performance, enterprise class
drives
– 1 TB and 2 TB 7,200 rpm high-capacity, archival-class nearline drives
• Single environmental services module with:
– Two upstream and one downstream 6 Gbps SAS ports
– One 10/100 Mbps Ethernet enclosure management port
• Dual AC power supplies and cooling units
IBM System Storage EXP2524 Express Storage Enclosure
• Twenty-four 2.5-inch SAS drive bays with the following drive options:
– 146 GB 15,000 rpm, 300 GB and 600 GB 10,000 rpm high-performance,
enterprise class drives
– 500 GB 7,200 rpm high-capacity, archival-class nearline drives
• Single environmental services module with:
– Two upstream and one downstream 6 Gbps SAS ports
– One 10/100 Mbps Ethernet enclosure management port
• Dual AC power supplies and cooling units
All disk drives of the same form factor can be intermixed within the appropriate
EXP2500 enclosure. EXP2512 and EXP2524 enclosures may be intermixed in a
daisy-chain configuration. With this flexibility, EXP2500 is designed to support a
complete range of data storage requirements, from highly-utilized applications to
high-capacity, low usage applications.
