f
or 76 years, the Jewish Federation of San Diego County has been
a unifying force for Jewish community-building and philanthropy,
combining expertise and resources to create positive, life-changing results
for people in need, for our friends in Israel and for a more engaged,
inspired and stronger future for the Jewish community here and throughout
the world. Federation was established in San Diego in 1936 by a small group of
visionaries before Israel became a state, when the Jewish population in San Diego
was less than 4,000 people. Together with our partners and supporters, we have
been instrumental in helping to develop San Diego as one of the leading Jewish
communities in the country. Our community has grown to 100,000, yet our purpose
remains constant: to create a more vibrant Jewish community in San Diego, Israel
and throughout the world. Federation is a key part of one of the most successful
philanthropic networks that has existed to date, raising and distributing billions of
dollars annually through Jewish Federations of North America, to meet the needs of
the Jewish people in a coordinated fashion focused on maximum impact.
Help change the world by making a gift to the Federation’s Annual Campaign
and by becoming involved in Federation volunteer, educational and networking
opportunities. Together we do extraordinary things!

JEWISH CARING
Our Jewish community has a long tradition of
humanitarianism. The broad reach of Federation and
our partners, JDC and the Jewish Agency, assures that
we, as a community, can respond instantly to assist
those in need. In addition to emergency response
work, our network of partners in the San Diego
Jewish community, like Jewish Family Service and
Seacrest Village, works tirelessly to care for those in
need. Together, we provide a safety net upon which
our most vulnerable depend. Under the current
economic challenges faced by our community, many
long-time donors have now found themselves on
the other side of the table. It has been heartening
for many to find the caring hand they had been
supporting for many years is now there for them in
their time of need.
