Roy’s Grandfather Pete Ahlstedt operated an early
day steam wheat thrashing machine in the Assaria
and Smolan farming communities
All four of Roy’s
Great-Grandfathers’ families
were the first to break the
prairie on their Central Kansas
homesteads. In the early
1870’s there were still Indians
occasionally in the area.
