As this department was the foundation on which we started, now some forty<br />
years past, that reputation <strong>and</strong> fame which is as wide-spread as our country is extensive,<br />
we may state that we were the first whose work was equaled nowhere else<br />
in the world excepting one place only, <strong>and</strong> that Hamburg ; in fact it was there<br />
where for many years the founder of our establishment gained that skill <strong>and</strong> experience<br />
which, when exercised in this country with such improvements as were<br />
found to be an advantage, was heralded as a need supplied which had been long<br />
felt. Our constant <strong>and</strong> special endeavor has been, is <strong>and</strong> shall be, to improve <strong>and</strong><br />
to supply first-class work at as low a cost as the expense of the finest workmanship<br />
would allow, <strong>and</strong> upon the latter our most energetic efforts will be concentrated.<br />
