DISCOVER, EXPLORE, DEVELOP - CREATE!
DISCOVER our new 13 week course.
EXPLORE the hallowed traditions of animation and
the blurry edges where animation meets film, motion
graphics and visual music. Write, direct, & produce
several animated sequences with or without words
and music, using pencil, plasticine, computer and/or
3D objects.
DEVELOP your own characters and style! Basic
materials are provided as part of the course costs.
Includes special guest lecturers specialising in their
field. This is a studio based workshop and class
numbers are extremely limited.
It’s your time to CREATE.
OVERVIEW
This course is designed for beginners and for people
wishing to further develop existing skills. The small
class size enables participants to work within a wide
range of studio based practice methodologies and
skill levels. This animation course is taught by the
Victorian College of the Arts award winning animation
lecturers & industry guest speakers.
Students in the animation intensive course can expect
an introductory, hands-on experience in bringing
drawings, objects and images to life in both narrative
and experimental contexts. They will be exposed
to techniques and materials, animation specific
equipment and software. Through planned exercises
and an individual project, students will gain a
foundation of the principles and practices of animation
production. It is expected that this will better equip the
students for further study and practice in this field.
All animation students take home a VCA School of
Film and Television Animation certificate of completion
plus a DVD of all of the works generated throughout
the course.
CONTENT
Classes are held on Monday and Thursday
evenings, 6pm to 9pm and some weekends. Also
included are four animation-focused Saturday
workshops: two of which will include animation
industry guest speakers, plus two intensive practice
based sessions.
PLUS Animation Intensive offers participants four
additional Tuesday evening sessions of your choice
within the year long Foundations program whose
guest lecturers include highly experienced Film & TV
industry director’s, writers, producer’s, composer’s,
production designers, sound recordists, sound
designers, cinematographers, screen studies
lecturers and more!
