DISCOVER, EXPLORE, DEVELOP - CREATE!<br />
DISCOVER our new 13 week course.<br />
EXPLORE <strong>the</strong> hallowed traditions <strong>of</strong> <strong>animation</strong> and<br />
<strong>the</strong> blurry edges where <strong>animation</strong> meets film, motion<br />
graphics and visual music. Write, direct, & produce<br />
several animated sequences with or without words<br />
and music, using pencil, plasticine, computer and/or<br />
3D objects.<br />
DEVELOP your own characters and style! Basic<br />
materials are provided as part <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> course costs.<br />
Includes special guest lecturers specialising in <strong>the</strong>ir<br />
field. This is a studio based workshop and class<br />
numbers are extremely limited.<br />
It’s your time to CREATE.<br />
OVERVIEW<br />
This course is designed for beginners and for people<br />
wishing to fur<strong>the</strong>r develop existing skills. The small<br />
class size enables participants to work within a wide<br />
range <strong>of</strong> studio based practice methodologies and<br />
skill levels. This <strong>animation</strong> course is taught by <strong>the</strong><br />
<strong>Victorian</strong> <strong>College</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Arts</strong> award winning <strong>animation</strong><br />
lecturers & industry guest speakers.<br />
Students in <strong>the</strong> <strong>animation</strong> <strong>intensive</strong> course can expect<br />
an introductory, hands-on experience in bringing<br />
drawings, objects and images to life in both narrative<br />
and experimental contexts. They will be exposed<br />
to techniques and materials, <strong>animation</strong> specific<br />
equipment and s<strong>of</strong>tware. Through planned exercises<br />
and an individual project, students will gain a<br />
foundation <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> principles and practices <strong>of</strong> <strong>animation</strong><br />
production. It is expected that this will better equip <strong>the</strong><br />
students for fur<strong>the</strong>r study and practice in this field.<br />
All <strong>animation</strong> students take home a VCA School <strong>of</strong><br />
Film and Television Animation certificate <strong>of</strong> completion<br />
plus a DVD <strong>of</strong> all <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> works generated throughout<br />
<strong>the</strong> course.<br />
CONTENT<br />
Classes are held on Monday and Thursday<br />
evenings, 6pm to 9pm and some weekends. Also<br />
included are four <strong>animation</strong>-focused Saturday<br />
workshops: two <strong>of</strong> which will include <strong>animation</strong><br />
industry guest speakers, plus two <strong>intensive</strong> practice<br />
based sessions.<br />
PLUS Animation Intensive <strong>of</strong>fers participants four<br />
additional Tuesday evening sessions <strong>of</strong> your choice<br />
within <strong>the</strong> year long Foundations program whose<br />
guest lecturers include highly experienced Film & TV<br />
industry director’s, writers, producer’s, composer’s,<br />
production designers, sound recordists, sound<br />
designers, cinematographers, screen studies<br />
lecturers and more!<br />
