No School Movie Days<br />

Gail Borden has some programming to keep the kids busy<br />

over Spring Break. They are <strong>of</strong>fering No School Day<br />

movies! On <strong>March</strong> 23 at 2:00 pm, they will show Planet<br />

51, <strong>March</strong> 24 at 10:00 am, they will show Curious<br />

George 2, and on <strong>April</strong> 2 at 10:00 am, it’s Scooby Doo! Registration is required.<br />

Got Talent<br />

All kids in 1st through 6th grade are invited to show <strong>of</strong>f their talent in Gail<br />

Borden’s Got Talent Show. <strong>March</strong> 22 at 10:00 am, will be the preliminary<br />

rounds, with the finals on <strong>March</strong> 25 at 2:00 pm. Registration is required. For<br />

Second Sunday Concert Series is Back!<br />

Free tickets are available at the Main Library. The onehour<br />

concerts are held at 2 p.m. Meet the artists and<br />

enjoy refreshments after each concert. Upcoming shows<br />

include Dances Around the World (piano duo) on <strong>March</strong><br />

14, and the music <strong>of</strong> Ferruccio Busconi (by Svetlana<br />

Belksy, pianist) on <strong>April</strong> 11. .<br />

Poplar Creek Library<br />

Teens and Gaming<br />

Calling all teens! Start gaming at Poplar Creek Library on<br />

<strong>March</strong> 27. The Library will be hosting tournament play for<br />

teens in grades 7 and up. Tournament check-in is from 10:00 am until full.<br />

Tournament play begins about 11:30 am and ends around 2:30 pm. Refreshments<br />

are served, but bring your own lunch. The top four finishers will receive gift cards<br />

from GameStop. We will also have two non-tournament stations running while you<br />

Book Discussion Clubs<br />

Poplar Creek Library has three different book<br />

discussion clubs matched to peoples’ busy<br />

schedules and reading interest. Joining a<br />

book club is a great way to meet people that<br />

have a similar interest – reading! Members<br />

gain the added benefit <strong>of</strong> learning about the<br />

authors and reading books they may not have picked up on their own.<br />

The Books and Bagels group meets the second Wednesday <strong>of</strong> the month, at 10:30<br />

am. The group will discuss Sweetsmoke (David Fuller) on Wednesday, <strong>March</strong> 10,<br />

and House on Mango Street (Sandra Cisneros) on <strong>April</strong> 14. The Bookies Group<br />

meets the first Thursday, at 7:00 pm. The group will discuss Animal, Vegetable,<br />

Miracle (Barbara Kingslover) on <strong>March</strong> 4, and The Guernsey Literary and Potato<br />

Peel Pie Society (Mary Ann Schaffer) on <strong>April</strong> 1. Finally, if you like a mystery, join<br />

the Mystery Book group on the fourth Thursday at 12:00 noon. On <strong>March</strong> 25, the<br />

group will discuss Mystic River (Dennis Lehane); and the <strong>April</strong> book is – a Mystery!<br />

Book Discussion Groups run from February through November. Books are available<br />

a month prior to the meeting at the Reader’s Advisory Desk. Registration is<br />

Adult Winter Reading Program<br />

The <strong>2010</strong> Adult Winter Reading Program is <strong>of</strong>f to a great start. Patrons are<br />

reading books and earning prizes. Don’t worry, there’s still time to join! Just<br />

read or listen to six (6) books before <strong>March</strong> 15. Please keep in mind:<br />

- Books need to be recorded either on-line or by a librarian.<br />

- Books or audio-books need to be checked out from our library.<br />

- In order to complete the program the sixth book must be a biography.<br />

Wondering What to Do With the Kids Over<br />

Spring Break<br />

Head over to Poplar Creek Library! On <strong>March</strong> 22, at 2:00 pm, ages 4 and up<br />

can enjoy Drop-In Legos. On Thursday, <strong>March</strong> 25, at 11:00 am, educators<br />

from the Morton Arboretum will talk about what’s going on in your backyard at<br />
