No School Movie Days
Gail Borden has some programming to keep the kids busy
over Spring Break. They are offering No School Day
movies! On March 23 at 2:00 pm, they will show Planet
51, March 24 at 10:00 am, they will show Curious
George 2, and on April 2 at 10:00 am, it’s Scooby Doo! Registration is required.

Got Talent
All kids in 1st through 6th grade are invited to show off their talent in Gail
Borden’s Got Talent Show. March 22 at 10:00 am, will be the preliminary
rounds, with the finals on March 25 at 2:00 pm. Registration is required. For

Second Sunday Concert Series is Back!
Free tickets are available at the Main Library. The onehour
concerts are held at 2 p.m. Meet the artists and
enjoy refreshments after each concert. Upcoming shows
include Dances Around the World (piano duo) on March
14, and the music of Ferruccio Busconi (by Svetlana
Belksy, pianist) on April 11. .

Poplar Creek Library
Teens and Gaming
Calling all teens! Start gaming at Poplar Creek Library on
March 27. The Library will be hosting tournament play for
teens in grades 7 and up. Tournament check-in is from 10:00 am until full.
Tournament play begins about 11:30 am and ends around 2:30 pm. Refreshments
are served, but bring your own lunch. The top four finishers will receive gift cards
from GameStop. We will also have two non-tournament stations running while you

Book Discussion Clubs
Poplar Creek Library has three different book
discussion clubs matched to peoples’ busy
schedules and reading interest. Joining a
book club is a great way to meet people that
have a similar interest – reading! Members
gain the added benefit of learning about the
authors and reading books they may not have picked up on their own.
The Books and Bagels group meets the second Wednesday of the month, at 10:30
am. The group will discuss Sweetsmoke (David Fuller) on Wednesday, March 10,
and House on Mango Street (Sandra Cisneros) on April 14. The Bookies Group
meets the first Thursday, at 7:00 pm. The group will discuss Animal, Vegetable,
Miracle (Barbara Kingslover) on March 4, and The Guernsey Literary and Potato
Peel Pie Society (Mary Ann Schaffer) on April 1. Finally, if you like a mystery, join
the Mystery Book group on the fourth Thursday at 12:00 noon. On March 25, the
group will discuss Mystic River (Dennis Lehane); and the April book is – a Mystery!
Book Discussion Groups run from February through November. Books are available
a month prior to the meeting at the Reader’s Advisory Desk. Registration is

Adult Winter Reading Program
The 2010 Adult Winter Reading Program is off to a great start. Patrons are
reading books and earning prizes. Don’t worry, there’s still time to join! Just
read or listen to six (6) books before March 15. Please keep in mind:
- Books need to be recorded either on-line or by a librarian.
- Books or audio-books need to be checked out from our library.
- In order to complete the program the sixth book must be a biography.

Wondering What to Do With the Kids Over
Spring Break
Head over to Poplar Creek Library! On March 22, at 2:00 pm, ages 4 and up
can enjoy Drop-In Legos. On Thursday, March 25, at 11:00 am, educators
from the Morton Arboretum will talk about what’s going on in your backyard at
Tracks, Traces & Trees! For more information on these and other programs,
