working for her Dad in 1973

have been married for 37

Jeannine Church, Shipping Manager 

Jeannine became the Mack’s 

Lure shipping manager 

in 2006. Her shipping 

experience was initially 

gained from working for a 

famous candy manufacturer.

Bobby joined the Mack’s

What kind of a name is that for a fishing lure you might ask! Well, just as a beautiful 

diamond ring attracts the attention of the ladies, the brilliant reflection from the stones in 

the Wedding Ring® spinner captivates the attention of most fish. It is the round band of 

rhinestones featured in the center of the lure which creates that flash and thus the inspiration 

for its name. That brilliance and flash I mentioned isn’t created from any old rhinestone 

either, these stones are exceptional. They are the highest quality available on the market. So 

whether you are trying to attract the attention of a record fish, or your bride to be, make sure 

you look for the same quality that is featured in a Mack’s Lure Wedding Ring® spinner. 

Now that you know how the Wedding Ring® spinner got its name, let me tell you how it was 

discovered and how Mack’s Lure got its start. 

It was 1969 and Vern McPherson, the founder of Mack’s Lure, had a friend who always 

seemed to have a stringer full of fish. This friend saw how well fish were attracted to flash, 

and figured there isn’t anything much flashier than diamonds. So he designed a lure that had 

diamonds, well at least the closest thing to diamonds that he could afford to use for fishing. 

Somehow Vern was able to convince his friend to share that specific lure design with him, 

and Mack’s Lure, and the now world famous Wedding Ring® spinner were soon to be born. 

In the beginning, the McPherson’s were based in Riggins, Idaho. Vern, Edna and their 

son Ray made a few dozen lures and sold them out of their truck to fishermen. As they 

became more popular Vern took these new lures from town to town, giving store owners 

the opportunity to add his products to their inventory. It didn’t take long before more and 

more fishermen recognized the quality of the Wedding Ring® spinner and soon it became a 

Northwest favorite.

But that’s not the end of the story! Today there are over 250 variations of the renowned 

Wedding Ring® being produced by Mack’s Lure. The McPherson family has always believed 

quality, plus service, equals satisfied customers. And the family also believed that if they put 

God first in all that they did, the rest would just fall into place. That philosophy is as much in 

place at Mack’s Lure now as it was in the beginning. Most of our spinners are still hand-tied 

on monofilament to allow for greater movement in the water versus when tied on a stiff wire. 

All of the Mack’s Lure product designs are extensively field tested. We make sure they are 

proven fish catchers before they are ever brought to market. 

Mack’s Lure, based near the Columbia River in Wenatchee, Washington, sells quite a number

The Smile Blade® was invented and patented, by Dr. Ron 

Stirtz; someone who loves to fish every bit as much as you 

and I. His reason for inventing the blade was to catch more 

fish, more of the time, and he succeeded. 

One of the reasons why the Smile Blade® performs so 

well is speed: You can get spin and action down to speeds 

so much slower than any other blade. When fish are not 

aggressive, being able to slow down to 1/4 mph, and have 

your presentation still provide action, catches you fish. 

Action is another key. You can change the action on a 

Smile Blade® instantly simply by squeezing the blade closer 

together or flattening them out a little. The list goes on and 

on, but with 4 patterns, 36 colors, and 6 sizes available, we 

have the Smile Blade® that will help you catch more fish. 

The Flash Lite® Story 

The Flash Lite® was also patented and invented by Dr. 

Ron Stirtz. He designed the Flash Lite® blade with a lot of 

the same attributes as the Smile Blade®, including making 

them from the same soft Mylar material that helps with the 

slow speed factor. 

The Flash Lite® blade features a longer profile. That 

longer profile makes this blade great for large fish. It also 

works well when used in a multiple blade attractor such as 

the Flash Lite® troll. You can simulate a whole school of 

baitfish without having the weight to drag around as with 

traditional gang trolls. The blades were also designed to 

counter rotate allowing them to simultaneously flash from a 

multitude of different angles. 

With close to two dozen combinations of Flash Lite® 

attractors to choose from, all tied on 90 lb. test cable, you’re

With the patent in the final stages this new dodger will be here soon. It will offer some truly innovative features 

that will be sure to attract fish like no other dodger can. It will be available in two size a 7.5” and a 4.4”, as well as 

several exciting colors.

This hard-body lure will continue in the tradition of getting fishermen what they want - more fish!
