Councillor
Arthur’s Report
Please, please take a few minutes to
fill in the Lochwinnoch Residents Survey
that LMEG (Lochwinnoch Millennium
Events Group) are currently
carrying out. We would greatly appreciate
your participation.
Once again we had a very successful
and busy village Annual Community
Football Camp which ran in the early
part of July.
My thanks to Viewfield Rovers Football
Club for the use of their facilities,
to St.Mirren Football Club Community
Coaches for their excellent coaching
and dedication, to Lochwinnoch
Space and to all our young people
who attended and gave it their all.
Unfortunately, due to holidays, I
missed the Brown Bull’s 200 th Anniversary
Street Party but I had no
doubts that Laura and her helpers
would make it a day to remember and
from all accounts it certainly was.
Betty McKellar’s poem ‘The Brown
Bull’ has certainly caught the occasion
and I hear that Frazer Gamble is on
the lookout for a part-time job now
that he no longer has to wash his hair
as often! Well done to all.
Within Renfrewshire there is a multiagency
supported, ‘Care and Repair’
service for those aged 60 and over that
require small repairs carried out in
their home. This service is available
to council, housing association and
private tenants. The aim of the service
is to help people who cannot afford
the cost of small repairs around the
home or find it difficult to get
someone to carry out minor work.
The work takes in small repairs such
as broken shelves, minor internal
joinery repairs, replacement of locks,
hinges, letterboxes, tap washers and
light bulbs. For assistance or advice
phone Care and Repair Renfrewshire
on Tel: 0141 812 4111.
Please use this planner to avoid any
clashes when choosing dates to
hold events, and to help publicise
BOGUS CALLERS ALERT
Police are warning Renfrewshire residents
to be extra vigilant,
following recent reports of bogus callers
in the area, including in and
around Lochwinnoch.
Descriptions of individuals involved
include the wearing of yellow reflective
jackets and travelling in white
vans.
Advice from the Crime Prevention
Department of Paisley Police Office is
to only allow companies entry to your
home if you have arranged for them to
attend at an agreed time and date.
If any members of the public spot anything
suspicious, they should contact
their local police office (see below for
