To summarise, we can see children in junior school negotiating the coolness of brands by<br />
mobilising a range of concepts which <strong>are</strong> interlinked and often contradictory. <strong>Cool</strong> can be<br />
entertainment (<strong>but</strong> it’s not quite the same thing); cool can be popular (<strong>but</strong> not too popular);<br />
and cool can be fashionable (<strong>but</strong> fashion is cyclical).<br />
Yet, within this fickle world, one brand seems to remain constant – the <strong>Simpsons</strong>.<br />
