WELCOME SCHEDULE
It is with great pleasure that we welcome
you to the 2010 O-League — a competition
which has grown, developed and improved
with each passing year.
Dear Friends,
The 2010 O-League promises to be an exciting contest with the
champion clubs of Fiji, New Caledonia, New Zealand, Papua New
Guinea, Solomon Islands, Tahiti and Vanuatu all fighting for the
Oceania crown.
Now in its fourth season, the O-League has expanded from six to
eight teams reflecting the growing popularity of the competition and
enabling more OFC member associations to take part.
With New Caledonia and Tahiti added to the mix, football can reach an even wider audience and
capture the imagination of a new generation of fans.
Media coverage of the 2010 O-League is set to increase dramatically after ground-breaking deals
between OFC and broadcasters in each of the participating nations.
OFC will work closely with Triangle and Stratos Television in New Zealand to edit all the action from each
round of the competition into highlights packages to be distributed and aired around the region.
Radio stations will provide domestic audiences with analysis of the competition while our print media
friends, who made the 2009 O-League front page and back page news in the majority of our member
associations, will also ensure extensive coverage.
oceaniafootball.com will follow the progress of the 2010 O-League closely and provide “live” match
experience for internet users where possible with the help of a dedicated group of media officers,
correspondents and member association staff.
With the 2010 O-League set to beam out across the region, Oceania club football has come a long way
considering there was little or no coverage of the very first OFC Club Championship in 1999.
The 2009 season was a huge success with closely fought contests in both groups and a cumulative
audience of around 80,000 fans across 14 games.
This season is expected to have even more twists and turns as the eight teams do battle for a place
at the FIFA Club World Cup 2010.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all participants on and off the pitch for their hard work in
making the 2010 O-League a memorable tournament.
Yours in football
Reynald Temarii
OFC President
FIFA Vice President
