ENGINE
SAFETY
ALL REVVED UP. The 207 is available in petrol engines. The entry-level 207 PopArt 1.4, is equipped with a Euro
5-compliant 1 360 cc four-cylinder engine. This power unit produces a maximum output of 54 kW at 5 200 r/min, while
the torque maximum comes to 118 Nm at 3 300 r/min. Drive is to the front wheels via a 5-speed manual gearbox. The
combined-cycle fuel consumption figure is an impressive 6,3 litres /100 km, while the CO 2 emissions rating comes to
145 g/km.
The 207 Active 1.4 VTi engine carries an “EP” engine. This 1 397 cc four-cylinder is equipped with variable valve timing on
both the intake and exhaust valves, as well as variable lift for the intake valves. The Euro 5-rated engine is credited with
70 kW at 6 000 r/min, and a torque of 136 Nm at 4 000 r/min. Even so, fuel consumption in the combined cycle is a frugal
5,8 litres /100 km*, while CO 2 emissions come to only 135 g/km.
INTELLIGENT PROTECTION. A rigid body and wide track coupled with corner-hugging McPherson front
suspension plus a steel rear axle featuring a deformable crossmember means it’s perfectly set up to take whatever
the road throws at it. While variable, electric power-assisted steering make for precise handling on the road and
easy manoeuvring when you’re parking. Plus, all 207 models come standard with Anti-Lock Braking System with
Electronic Brake-Force Distribution (ABS with EBD) to help you retain control of the steering when you need to
stop in an emergency.
These new restyled and reloaded vehicles still come standard with the original enhanced road holding ability.
In the event of head-on collisions, the steering column collapses and the engine and gearbox move down, reducing
the chances of harm to the driver. In the event that you are hit from the side, the 207 also has reinforcement
panels built into the doors to increase structural rigidity and protection for everyone inside, features that have
earned it the coveted 5-Star Euro NCAP rating. The front seat belts, are equipped with pretensioners and both
front & rear belts feature force limiters. Plus, automatic drive-away locking, automatic activation of hazard lights
in emergency braking and driver & passenger airbags, will give you total peace of mind.
When it comes to safety on the road, you can’t be too careful. Which is why we’ve drawn on our experience of
developing active and passive safety features for the Peugeot 207.
