POWDER BUMPS
The Bergbahn AG Kitzbühel seek to offer our guests optimum piste
conditions for every skiing day. In case of new snowfall, however, they
will not be able to groom all trails at the same time, even when using
a maximum of grooming machines. Under certain weather conditions,
new snow is bonding poorly to the underlying snow surface. Despite
compacting roller grooming, new bumps (moguls) are formed by skiers’
first turns, which does not come from poor trail grooming.
SPORTBERG GAISBERG
34
Ascent by the Horn Gondola I and II to the Alpenhaus. Here you have the choice,
always depending on your level of proficiency, of trying the Trattalmmulde (for
beginners and advanced beginners) or the sunny summit (for advanced skiers).
Beginners are recommended to start with the Trattalmmulde, easily accessible
by Horn Gondola I and II and the Alpenhaus lift. The “Magic Carpet” is the ideal
surface for first turns and the terrain ideally suited to improve your skills with
every day. Beginner skiers get to know various types of uphill loading from
babylift to T-bar and chairlift and will not be disturbed by any obstacles or
trail crossings when taking their first steps on the slopes. We recommend the
Hagstein trail No. 3 as a family top to bottom run.
Tobogganing: daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Night operation Tuesday
through Saturday from 06:30 p.m. to 09:30 p.m. Separate lift
ticket rates will be charged for night tobogganing.
Night skiing: is offered every Thu and Fri from 06:30 p.m. to
09:30 p.m. (floodlight until 11 p.m.). Separate lift ticket rates for
night skiing.
Fenced-in race area: ideal location for all types of races or training
purposes, available upon request. For further information,
3. Pure Enjoyment Trail
On this tour you are actually skiing against the current. Starting from
Pengelstein I you may carve the first turns on the stupendous Hochsaukaser
trail and even do repeat runs, possibly with burning thighs … The top to bottom
trail Streifalm is a good choice in-between with pistes still not too crowded.
Boarders Paradise
Come up and try the varied boardercross and halfpipe area on top of the
Kitzbüheler Horn! Then take the trail down to the Trattalmmulde and ride the
2-seater chairlift up to the Hornköpfl. The ultimate kick: riding down the wild
terrain on the south side with natural “kickers” and powder, and back again to
the Trattalmmulde. And, after all this excitement, freaks may be tempted to try
the quaterpipe with big jump.
Off Piste Bichlalm
The groomed uphill and downhill tracks of the Bichlalm area is the very thing
for ski tourers and off-piste skiers. The Bichlalm Shuttle will take groups -
accompanied by a ski or mountain guide - up to the starting point for a number
of tours into the open terrain. Simply register with the “Alpin Experts” of the
Kitzbühel Ski School on: +43 (0)5356/63 177. Our recommendation: evening
parties at the mountain inn Bichlalm are as legendary as skiing down by the
light of the moon.
4. The Master Tour
You will require strong calf muscles, good physical condition and should not
suffer from dizziness. The flight in the 3S-Gondola is a breathtaking adventure.
The Master Tour can be started from the Panoramabahn Kitzbüheler Alpen, either
at the bottom station at Hollersbach or from the mid-station at Breitmoos.
Don’t forget to warm up before starting the Master Tour!
