Obstacles to TFP with Narcissistic Patients: Interpretation • The content of interpretation – brings the patient into contact with that which he desperately needs to project and therefore is a threat to the Pathological Grandiose Self (resulting rage, omnipotent control) • Interpretation can be seen as an enactment of a cruel authority forcing the patient into a humiliating submission
